Guthlee secretly attends classes from outside the classroom window, but his status as a Dalit bars him from formal admission. Teachers and villagers reinforce caste boundaries—his father is reprimanded for minor interactions, and Guthlee is publicly chased away despite patriotic song lessons.
2. The Principal’s Conflict
Sanjay Mishra plays Headmaster Harishankar, an upper-caste educator who secretly sympathizes with Guthlee’s ambition. Torn between empathy and societal pressure, he cannot initially admit him—though he feels a strong, unspoken connection.
