Plot Summary
1. Reuniting in Disguise
Five years after the explosive events of Haseen Dillruba, Rani (Taapsee Pannu) runs a beauty parlour in Agra, while Rishu (Vikrant Massey), now going by the name Ravi, works as a delivery boy—sporting a prosthetic hand to cover his past. Though they live separately to avoid attention, they maintain secret contact, plotting an escape to Thailand.
2. The Police Pressure
ACP Kishore Rawat and Senior Inspector Manav Shukla, aided by Monty Chacha (Jimmy Shergill)—Neel’s uncle—are convinced that Rishu is still alive and responsible for Neel’s death. To throw them off, Rani agrees to marry Abhimanyu (Sunny Kaushal), a gentle doctor who harbours feelings for her.
3. A Marriage of Convenience
Rani weds Abhimanyu under the pretense of a sham relationship, while behind the scenes, plans continue to unite her with Rishu. Abhimanyu eventually learns the truth and, driven by his own violent past—he confesses to killing his uncle and aunt—joins their escape plot.
4. Twists & Betrayals
As the trio schemes to flee, tensions escalate. Abhimanyu’s darker side emerges: he eliminates potential threats (landlady Poonam and a blackmailer Lallan), fakes his death, and manipulates events at a railway bridge by staging it as their last chance to escape amid crocodile-infested waters.
5. Fake Deaths & Real Sacrifices
The fireworks begin at the bridge: Abhimanyu appears dead in a fiery crash, leaving Rani devastated and Rishu presumed lost to crocodiles—until it’s revealed they orchestrated the entire escape. Abhimanyu staged his own death; Rishu escaped but lost his prosthetic arm underwater. Monty pieces together the truth.
6. Final Showdown & Epilogue
Six months later, Rani confronts Abhimanyu atop a cliff—accusing him of orchestrating Rishu’s death—then seemingly plunges to her death. Monty arrests Abhimanyu. However, flashbacks show Rishu survived and reunited with Rani; both escaped together. Abhimanyu is revealed as the son of the crime novelist Dinesh Pandit, and the road remains open for more twists
