Plot Summary
Aziz “Ajju” Ali (Farhan Akhtar) is an orphaned henchman working for local gangsters in Dongri. After a brutal street fight lands him in a hospital, Dr. Ananya Prabhu (Mrunal Thakur) rebukes him. That confrontation, coupled with witnessing Muhammad Ali’s boxing clips, inspires Aziz to consider leaving his violent path.
He approaches renowned boxing coach Narayan “Nana” Prabhu (Paresh Rawal)—Ananya’s father—for training. Despite initial resistance, Nana accepts him after Aziz proves his sincerity. Under Nana’s guidance, Aziz receives a boxing license, starts winning matches, and earns the nickname “Toofaan”.
Aziz and Ananya fall in love—much to Nana’s disapproval, given Aziz is Muslim and she is Hindu. Nana forces her out of his home, and the couple struggles to find housing due to their interfaith status. Out of desperation, Aziz accepts money to lose a match, leading to a five‑year boxing ban.
During the ban, Aziz marries Ananya; they have a daughter, Myra. Ananya, however, dies in a tragic stampede after secretly renewing Aziz’s license—fueling his resolve to return to boxing.
Reinstated in the ring, Aziz achieves a series of victories until a corrupt official sabotages one match. Nana intervenes, exposes the corruption, and secures a rematch. In the climactic bout against formidable boxer Prithvi Singh, Aziz draws strength from Ananya’s memory and Nana’s support to win the championship
